Alaska fly fishing pictures and coho salmon photos caught while fly fishing Little Susitna River, one of Alaska's best coho salmon streams.  Photos of flies show best patterns for catching silvers or coho.

Fly fishing enthusiasts fish flies to silver salmon throughout the state of Alaska, and Little Susitna River, only 90 minutes drive from Anchorage, is a top coho-silver producing stream.

Silver or coho salmon is the Alaska salmon species most sought by fly fishermen.  This photo shows an average sized fish caught on an egg sucking leach pattern in early August.  Note background fly fisherman fighting another salmon.

Alaska salmon fly fishing on Little Susitna River can be very productive in July, August, and early September.

A good fly fisherman can experience incredible silver salmon fishing on  Little Susitna River.  Heavy rain showers before this trip raised the water level and muddied the river, but fly fishing remained fantastic.

This big male silver salmon put up a tackle testing fight, that highlighted the fishing trip, before he could be beached.

Another big coho salmon caught while fly fishing on Little Susitna River.  This fish was caught on a Showgirl pattern slowly twitched in the current.

After battling nearly to the beach, a coho salmon dashes away on another reel draining run.

After releasing a silver salmon, this fisherman caught his next fish without even making a cast.  He was dragging a fly in the water, as he waded out to get in position, when this chrome coho attacked.

In Alaska most fly fishing guests go home with salmon photos and fish fillets for the grill, both of which can provide future fishtale telling opportunities.

When fishing fever strikes, it becomes difficult to convince a fisherman his 6 hour fishing trip is over,  and it's time for boating home.  As this overtime photo shows, time flies when you're catching fish.
