Sockeye salmon or red salmon return in two runs to Little Susitna River.  The first run arrives in late May and June, and guests catch a few sockeye on king salmon charter while using large king salmon lures.   Better sockeye fishing occurs during the second run with peak fishing the last 10 days of July.

This red salmon or sockeye salmon was caught in late July on a #3 black Flashtrap Spinner from Little Susitna River near Wasilla, Alaska.  Little Su red salmon average 5 - 6 lbs and are extremely strong fighters that explode from the water when hooked.
