Catching coho salmon provides a worthy challenge for a young kid.  Although July and August salmon fishing in Alaska is usually good enough for kids to catch limits of salmon, they feel a large sense of accomplishment after boating these big fish.

A kid hugs an Alaska silver salmon he caught while fishing a Flashtrap Spinner early in the morning.  The youngster limited early, but his father, mother, and brother caught up with him, landing limits of their own during a 6 hour guided fishing trip.

sea_lice_clinging_to_salmon

Sea lice often cling to salmon caught in lower Susitna River. Sea lice cling to salmon out in saltwater, but drop off after a few days in freshwater, so salmon anglers are usually enthused to catch salmon so fresh out of the salt, that they still have sea lice. usually clinging near the anal fin.
